women in poetry

There are a great many women poets who I admire; Sylvia Plath, Maya Angelou, Joy Harjo... the list could go on and on. I recently had the privilege to enroll in a course on women in poetry - where all of these women were studied and where I was given new lenses through which to look at their work. How magical to experience the wonder of words created by such powerful forces, and how daunting to aspire to create something that might one day resonate.
